Both beakers are of a plain shape set on a simple foot. This beaker made by Coline Allan was presented to the Church of New Machar in 1770 by Alexander Thomson of Rennieshill and Banchory, which lies to the west of Aberdeen. It was a companion cup to an earlier one presented in 1679 by Henry Panton of Boghall and his wife Anna Irvine. The maker of the 1679 cup is unknown, however it was repaired and possibly remodelled by James Gordon around 1779 (ABDAG011113).
