30/01/1852:
"The brig EARL OF ERROL, Patterson, of Sunderland, from Sunderland for Boulogne, sprung a lait on Monday the 19th inst. at midnight, and went down on Tuesday morning at 8 30; crew saved, all well, but lost all their clothes; got on board the Kentish Knock light vessel in the long boat, and were taken in to Dover by the BLUE-EYED MAID fishing smack on the 24th inst."

Wrecked Thames, Kentish Knock, 1852:
On a voyage from Sunderland to Boulogne the barque, EARL OF ERROL, under Capt. Patterson with a cargo of coal sprung a severe leak in wind conditions S.W. Force 10. The crew were saved by boarding the Kentish Knock light vessel.
