Elspeth Lamb
Elspeth Lamb studied at Glasgow School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University and the Tamarind Institute of Lithography, University of New Mexico USA, her main specialism being printmaking. Her skill as a printmaker has been acknowledged in the form of many awards and her teaching career – spanning 21 years at Edinburgh College of Art, latterly serving as the Head of the Printmaking department. After this period, Lamb ended her lecturing and began to concentrate on her own artist practice full time – undergoing residencies in Japan to enhance her practice in both printmaking and papermaking specialities.
Lamb’s work is characterised by her strong use of colour and often fantastical motifs – references to folktales, rhymes and stories which she transforms into her personal iconography.
The artist is an elected member of The Royal Scottish Academy.
