Dunkinty

Artist Info
Dunkintytrawler

Dunkinty was launched in 1946 - one of the first trawlers built at Aberdeen after World War Two. Instead of burning coal to produce steam, Dunkinty and Avondow were the only Aberdeen steam trawlers fuelled with heavy black oil. Dunkinty's hull design was not a success - the vessel lacked buoyancy and lift at the bow and was always down at the head, even when empty.
