Bannermill

Artist Info
BannermillAberdeen, Scotland, 1827 - 1904

Situated near the Harbour, to the north east of Cotton Street, the Bannermill was established as a cotton mill around 1827 by the Bannerman family. It was later sold around 1850 to Robinson, Crum and Co and closed around 1904 due to high costs and scarcity of cotton. Operating before the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire it is probable that the Bannermill used cotton produced by enslaved people.
