Aberdeen Glen Line Steam Ship Company LimitedAberdeen, Scotland, 1883 - 1899

The company was established in 1883 and liquidated in 1899. Letter sent in January 1898 (part of MS3001.18) reads: Dear sir or madam, Along with this you will receive a Notice calling a Special Meeting of Shareholders to consider a proposal for the Liquidation of the company. The Gairloch was lost in August and the Glen Tanar and Glen Gelder have been sold, so that the whole of the Assets of the Company are liquid, and that being the case, the Directors consider that Liquidation rather than the purchase of new Steamers will commend itself to the bulk of Shareholders. The Liquidation will take a considerable time as there are matters which cannot be settled without much care and attention, but the funds in hand will allow of an early payment of 15s. per share, leaving a considerable balance on hand, from which, after payment of claims and expenses, a further Dividend may be expected. We are, yours faithfully, John Cook & Son, Managers and secretaries.
