Edmond MersonStrichen, Scotland, 1890 - 1979

Edmond Merson originally wanted to be a motor engineer but began his working life with a slating apprenticeship.

He first worked as a driver for Mr Henderson of John M. Hendersons, who lived on queen's Road. After Mr Henderson died in 1925 he worked as a chauffeur for Sir James Taggart (Granite Merchant, possibly related by marriage to the Hendersons), Lord Leuitenant of Aberdeen who reside at Ashley Lodge.

Edmond Merson had three brothers in the Gordon Highlanders, the youngest of which died at the battle of Loos in 1915. He also signed up for the Great War and judging from his uniform may have served in the ASC (possibly due to his interest in motor engineering).

According to the family donor of his related objects, Mr EMrson delivered the artillery shell which is on display at Aberdeen Joint Station.

He lived at various Aberdeen addresses including Richmond Street and Mount Street.
