The Popeil Brothers Inc. was founded in Chicago in 1947 by Samuel and Raymond Popeil, originally of the Bronx, New York. They specialised in selling kitchen products, which later extended into gadgets to make food preparation faster, such as chopping and peeling devices, and toastie and donut makers.
In 1958 Samuel's son Ronald began to seel their products on television. Ron started his own company, Ronco in 1964 which sold similar products.
