Paper manufacturer, who owned the Stoneywood Mill. Criticised for buying estate lands and evicting tenant families who lived there. The Pirie family had links to chattel slavery through shares in merchant ships that travelled between Aberdeen and plantations also through woollen mills, which had links with the Royal African Company.
