Aberdeen Built Ships Selection

Aberdeen Built Ships Selection

Shipbuilding has a proud history in Aberdeen, developing as a major industry at the harbour in the late 1700s until the closure of the last yard, Hall, Russell & Co. in 1992. One of the first maritime objects collected by AAGM is a half model of the 1891 Aberdeen built steamer 'Thermopylae', and the collection includes many more models, plans, drawings, photographs, tools and ship parts associated with shipbuilding and Aberdeen built ships. Discover more by using the search function or by following links within each object.
