28/11/1861:
The schooner ISABELLA, Harley master, from Dieppe in ballast arrived in the Tyne on Saturday about 9 a.m., having on board the crew of the schooner STRATHBOGIE, Cumming master from Shields for Banff with coals. The STRATHBOGIE left the Tyne on Thursday, and on the following day, Friday, the crew left her in sinking state about 35 miles east St Abbs Head. They took to the ship's boats, and about noon on the same day they were picked up by the schooner ISABELLA. Unfortunately one man, named John Taylor, belonging to Macduff, was drowned by the upsetting of the boat, when alongside of the ISABELLA Captain Cumming desires to return thanks to Capt. Harley for the kind exertions which he made in rescuing himself (Captain Cumming), and crew, and also for the kind attention shewn towards them on board the ISABELLA.
