03/08/1940: Ordered.
24/12/1940: Keel laid as HMS NETTLE.
23/09/1941: Launched by Mrs Amery, wife of the Rt. Hon L.S. Amery, Secretary of State for India.
1941: The vessel’s name was changed to HYDERABAD and from the available evidence, this was most likely before the launch, hence the sponsor being the wife of the Secretary of State for India and the picture’s caption.
23/02/1942: Commissioned as HMS HYDERABAD.
26/05/1943: With HMS TEST (Hall Russell Yard No. 765/1942), sank U.436 by depth charge in North Atlantic.
01/01/1948: Sold.
10/1948: Demolished at Portaferry
Notes: Steam by screw, inverted, surface condensing, 4-cylinder triple expansion engine, 18½” x 31” x 38½” x 38½” with 30” stroke, 2750 i.h.p. by A. Hall.
