Hall Russel's journal describes it as a "Shelter deck, diesel driven, cargo liner" "strengthened for navigation in ice" with "staterooms for 5 passengers".
Ship "has life size bronze figurehead depicting a female figure, which has been specially designed by a Norwegian sculptor". (this is a feature of all the Fred Olsen fleet).
(Hall Russell Journal, vol. 21, no. 4, p. 78)
8 cylinder 340 x 570 mm, 1310 bhp British Polar engines.
In the Hall, Russell list in the Maritime museum this is yard no. 815. 816 and 817 were cancelled and BORRE's sister ship BOLT is 818, but if they were ordered together it would make more sense if their numbers were consequtive.
