About MeJohn Creed was awarded the first craft commission through the National Collecting Scheme for Scotland to make a site-specific piece of work for Aberdeen Art Gallery. Situated at the intersection of two distinctive galleries the work draws the visitor through the columns and directs the vision upwards. Creed commented that “the arch above suggests man's view of the universe, frames shafts of light, reflected on the polished stainless steel and glass, which penetrate the space as they diverge into many directions.

John Creed has a distinguished career as a metalsmith, working in both iron and silver. He combines individual practice at his own blacksmith's forge with lecturing and masterclasses.

Annica Sandstrom and David Kaplan are celebrated glass makers working at Lindean Mill Glass, near Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders.

The National Collecting Scheme for Scotland (NCSS) is operated by the Contemporary Art Society with Funds from the National Lottery through the Scottish Arts Council. The Scheme is an innovative and proactive approach to collecting challenging works of Applied Art for museum collections.
