About MeVotive Model from the Denburn Parish Church, originally Gilcomston Church, named after the minister Dr. James Kidd's daughter Agnes Oswald, nee Kidd.Flags indicate a British naval vessel; white ensign on transom stern, Union flag on bowsprit.
Dr. James Kidd was minister of Gilcomston Church from 1801 to 1834. He had three daughters and two sons who reached maturity and his daughter Agnes, when 29 years of age, married a sea captain, James Oswald, in 1829. The model's maker, James Welsh (son of Aberdeen's last hangman) dedicated the votive model to Agnes Oswald in 1830.
