About MeOne of a series of works based on observing Aberdeen Harbour in the 1970's and 1980's by George Mackie DFC, RSW (see ABDAG004460).

This image shows a Smit-LLoyd supply vessel leaving Aberdeen, with the South Breakwater in the background. Such vessels were relatively new appearances in Aberdeen. The newness of the industry and such vessels is captured is captured by the artist. The vessel is shown from the rear at a slightly awkward angle as it makes a turn. Despite all the power embodied in the solid structure, it gives the impression of a very young kitten wobbly on its unsteady legs and the wash from the thrusters its tail threshing to keep balance!
