About MeThis print from the original glass plate negative shows a remarkable view of Regent Quay and Aberdeen Harbour; vastly changed, but still recognisable as the place we know today. The Regent Bridge and sailing ships at the quayside may have gone, but Girdleness Lighthouse is clearly visible on the horizon. The negative was donated by Malcolm & Duncan Strachan, sons of A J B Strachan, the Aberdeen photographer and former apprentice to Hardie. Strachan bought Hardie's business in 1935 and the glass plate negative, thought to have been taken by Hardie, was acquired with the premises. Archie Strachan also acquired the extensive collection of George Washington Wilson's negatives and donated them to Aberdeen University.
