About MeElectric arc lamp formerly hung in a pair above the Centre Court of Aberdeen Art Gallery, as seen in a photograph (ABDMS072096.6) taken shortly after the Centre Court opened in 1905. The bulb is missing, but the casing remains and is intact, consisting of a metal cylinder perforated with holes at regular intervals, a supporting brass frame with a scroll at either side, a roller for lowering the lamp on a cord and the fittings for attaching the bulb. There is a white disc (possibly asbestos) inside the metal cylinder where the filament enters the body of the light.
