About Me"Grant Vibration" trout fly rod, three piece Greenheart with splice joints, marked "1700". 8'2" with spare tip and bag. Marked on the base "Sole Makers Playfair Aberdeen".

Alexander Grant applied for a patent for a non-slipping splice for fishing rods, golf club handles and other like articles on 29 May 1894 (No. 10385), and was accepted on 4 May 1895. In the early 1900s, Grant sold the rights to make his vibration rod to Playfair of Aberdeen.
