In the background are visible a number of helium balloons, which were symbolically released as the last event in the programme on 21 April 1988. The photograph was probably taken by Joyce Laing, who attended on this day.This photograph is part of an archive donated by Joyce Laing, OBE. Ian Hamilton Finlay was a personal friend.
