About MeAccompanied by Marguerite's mother, Hortense, in 1934 James and Marguerite toured the Middle East, visiting the places where James had been stationed during the First World War. They arrived in Port Said, went on to Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Haifa, then toured around the main sights in Egypt visiting Baalbek, Acre, Cairo, Gizah, Memphis, Luxor and Thebes.

Here the artist has taken a close-up view of the red clay walls so typical of Middle Eastern towns and the block bricks of the construction are boldly described.
