About MeStrath type trawlers were built in large numbers during WW1 as minesweepers by the Admiralty. It was the smallest of the three classes of vessels ordered for this task. Most found their way back into the civilian fleets after the war ended. They were held in affection by those that served aboard them and many models like this were made of the vessels.
This is a generic model as the number A182 refers to a vessel built in 1907 before the class was adopted.
