About MeThe DUCHESS OF KENT was a Watson Class a lifeboat based at Fraserburgh in 1954, it replaced the CHARLES KENNEDY which was lost in 1953. The DUCHESS OF KENT continued in service and was involved in the saving of 13 lives and the crew being awarded gallantry medals for their bravery. However on 21st January 1970, the crew responded to a 'shout' and went to the aid of a Danish trawler OPAL, the DCHESS OF KENT capsised resulting in the death of all but one of the six crew.
