About MeThis silver fork, part of the fittings of the Hogarth, was made in Birmingham in the latter years of the 19th century. It carries the insignia of the Hogarth on the tang, and has Birmingham marks underneath. It was receovered from the wreck along with other items of crockery and cutlery from the saloon. The Hogarth was built in Aberdeen by Halls for the Aberdeen Steam Navigation Company as a passenger and cargo vessel on the Aberdeen-London route. It was lost with 26 hands on 7th June 1918 when it was sunk by U-Boat 107 during the latter stages of WW1.
