About MeOne of 99 drawings on 92 leaves of paper from a sketchbook used by William Williams.

Heraldic emblem for craft guild or society comprising a large shield supported by Britannia on one side, holding a shield with the Union Jack motif and a female figure with a two headed axe on the other side. The main shield bears a chisel and brush crossed by a compass surmounted by a crown. The sheld is further topped by foliage (laurel, reed and bay?) working as a crest.

This drawing, along with 46 other leaves from the same sketchbook, is now untraced. Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums is keen to reunite the drawings as one album. If you have any information relating to the current whereabouts of this work please contact Aberdeen Art Gallery.
