About MeCorrespondence between James McBey and the Bryce Family, with Original Sketch. Sketch is of three figures - two standing, one asleep - at possibly the early hours of the morning (see clock in sketch). One figure is gesturing towards a bed with a bar of soap. At the top of the sketch is the word "Overschie", a small town in Rotterdam. The correspondence is regarding the departure of an acquaintance - "Griffiths" - and the worries of their host over the reaction of the village.
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this correspondence.
