About MeDocument detailing some of the paperwork which accompanied James McBey's application for US Citizenship, which was processed on 19 June 1942. A handwritten annotation explains that Marguerite took this paperwork to Sidney Krauss, McBey's lawyer, after the application was processed. The paperwork was originally as follows:

(1) Passport (British) No. 356477 dated 4th July 1935 renewed till 4th July 1945, including immigration visa (non-quota 4(a)) no. 712 dated Havana 19 June 1940 signed by John B. Ocheltree.

(2) Immigration identification Card No. 1161639 dated Havana, Cuba 19 June 1940 and attached photograph.

(3) Alien Registration Receipt Card No. 1334380.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this document.
