Issued to employees within BP's Southern North Sea Business Unit in 2002. Fleece features BP corporate logo, known as the "Helios", on the right breast and SNS on the left sleeve.

The BP logo was introduced in 2000 as part of a corporate rebranding exercise following various mergers and acquisitions in the late 1990s. The Business Unit logo shows an eight point compass rose with the N of SNS on the Northern cardinal direction and an extended yellow part in the Southern cardinal direction. The rose is surmounted by the letters SNS with the N enlarged. The logo "Lighting the Way" surrounds the lower half of the rose. The logo reflects the Business Unit's principle activity of producing natural gas which is used in power generation which in turn provides the heating and lighting for the nation. It also infers the Business Unit considered itself as showing the way for others in the conduct of its business. The compass rose also feeds into this metaphor.

At the time, the BP corporate policy did not allow the use of project or team logos. The approved depiction was the BP corporate logo with the Business Unit name shown in plain text. This was part of the "One BP" strategy to promote and project a single corporate identiy throughout the company. As with many Business Units at the time, the SNS Business Unit continued with the previous practice of individual logos to promote "esprit de corps" within the Business Unit.

BP's Southern North Sea Business Unit was responsible for all of BP's activities in the southern sector of the North Sea. As such it was primarily a gas business; exploring for, developing, and producing from gas fields.
