About MeThis is part of a collection of documents relating to Caroline Phillips (1874-1956), an Aberdonian journalist who was involved in the women's suffrage movement. The collection contains important correspondence between Phillips and key leaders in the suffrage movement, including Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst.Jan 2nd 1908
Dear Miss Philips,
I have just received a letter from Miss Fraser asking me to spend a week in Scotland from Monday, February 17th. I think she is arranging a series of big meetings for that week. I have written accepting her suggestion with great pleasure, and also suggesting that I should spend a week this month in Scotland as well, namely, from Friday 24th of January to Friday or Saturday, 31st or 1st of Feb. I think it would be well to put in a week of preliminary work in January, ‘At Homes‘, Drawing-room meetings, Social Gatherings, visits and calls and talks with the various committees. I should like to pay Aberdeen a visit. Will you write to Miss Fraser and consult with her, and at your earliest convenience let me know what arrangements you would have been able to make.
We are extremely busy at Headquarters this month. There is an immense amount of preparation to be done for the Women's Parliament; at the same time I feel that the movement in Scotland is very important. It is just now I believe at the point of taking a big new development, therefore if you can make use of my time, I shall only be too glad to set aside this week in January.
Yours very sincerely,
Emmeline Pethick Lawrence
