About MeMcBey depicts shells breaking in the sky over distant Jerusalem. British troops hold a position on the ridge of Nebi Samwil. According to his diary, McBey was without transport on the date of the inscription, 22 November 1917 and was fighting a fever back at base camp. The scene may have been constructed from information gathered and from sketches made a few days later, when he travelled to Jerusalem.
