About MeRoyal blue corded silk two piece dress dating to the late 1860s. The plain jacket style bodice features pagoda style sleeves, trimmed with fringing. The skirt is full and pleated tightly around the waist, with slight gathering towards the back. The skirt is full and has been adapted from the circular crinoline form, to a gathered shape at the back, anticipating the increasingly fashionable bustle. This was the fate of many crinoline skirts as the amount of material gave plenty of scope for adaptation to the new styles.
