About MeBed of sewing machine, illustration of house, horse and carriage, bridge over river; in the style of southern states of usa aristocratic/rural. on the bridge of the machine itself is gilt lettering - "new home". gilt floral design throughout the machine itself. last patent recorded on 26th august 1879. serial number 638040. cover of machine also bears the name "new home" in gilt lettering. note the use of a wooden con-rod for drive of machine, this obviates the worst effects of shock from the treadle action. similar examples of this use of wood is to be found in such diverse areas as meal mills and granite yardsSinger Manufacturing Company
