About MeOval vanity case, with hinged lid and carry handle.

The owner of this vanity case and her sister had matching cases and took them on their regular holiday to Llanelli in Wales to visit their maternal grandmother. It was used to store all their needs for journey from Aberdeen to Llanelli, which in the 1950s by train would take around 27 hours! They kept "I Spy " books, comics, sweets and pocket money in the vanity case.

The case is board with a small orange check with red vinyl edging stitched to the top and bottom edges, and a red plastic handle on top. The inside is lined with a narrow red check paper and a floral fabric has been added to restrict the movement of the lid. Inside the lid are metal clips which may have held a mirror originally.
