About MeOne of six samples of sawn granite illustrating the effect of different sawing technologies.

This one was cut by a frame saw. The blades were set a certain distance apart to cut a block into the desired thickness of slab. The granite was cut by the iron shot abrasive rather than by the blades themselves. The shot was fed to the blades in a thick slurry as the frame swung back and forth, creating a distinctive sound familiar to anyone who lived nearby.

The shot left rusty marks on the stone, which would be cleaned off using acid.
