About MeThe Inner Hebridean island of Tiree has a special place in Frances Walker’s art, as for many years she has spent her summers there in a small traditional cottage.

Her work often seeks to investigate the relationship between humans and the environment.

The view of the sea and the scale of the rocks in this painting create a sense of man’s insignificance in the face of the vastness of nature. This sensation is heightened by the narrow steps carved into the rock to indicate past settlements and their access to open water.
