About MeThis work was commissioned by the Rendezvous Gallery, Aberdeen to coincide with Nigel Grounds one-artist-exhibition and the arrival of the Tall Ships Race vessels in Aberdeen 1991.
This is a relatively early work by this Aberdeen trained and now Skye based artist.
The image shows the two sail training schooners Malcolm Miller and Sir Winston Churchill, tied up at the quayside in Aberdeen, surrounded by a number of smaller sail powered vessels 'dressed' (hoisted all their flags) for the occasion.
The Malcolm Miller was built in Aberdeen and is still sailing under that name, although now it is a luxury yacht based in the Mediterranean, rather than being used to train aspiring mariners.
