About MeFrom 1985 to 1990, Kathleen Ingram ran the business Sentimental Souls from her home in Aberdeen as a single-parent and whilst working full-time as an accountant in the oil industry. The idea for the venture came to her when visiting an American friend in Aberdeen, and noticed her friend’s son’s copperplated baseball boots and other family memorabilia. This practice was quite common in North America at the time. Initially supported by the Aberdeen Enterprise Trust, she sold copperplated sentimental objects; football boots and first baby shoes being popular. This 'North Sea Tiger' safety helmet was a display model and was also very popular for retirement or special reward in the offshore oil and gas industry. They were manufactured by a plater in Hamilton, who had a workshop in his large garden. She did not have a shop front but displayed products in shop windows and advertised through local radio and newspapers
