This tight fitting, boned bodice features a deep pointed V at the front, which enhances the impression of a small waist. It has puffed sleeves and is trimmed with machine made lace, which adds bulk to the bust area further emphasising the smallness of the waist. The bodice would have been worn with a flared skirt with a train, adding to the opulent illusion of the desired 'S' bend.
