About MePresented to the City of Aberdeen by the Victorian Trades Hall Council as a token of condolence to express "the concern of workers in Australia over the horrifying accident on the Piper Alpha oil rig on July 7th, 1988". Although the disaster struck on the 6th July, due to the time difference with Australia, the news arrived there on the 7th July 1988.In 1980 Montgarrett was awarded a Graduate Diploma of Textiles (Embroidery) from RMIT University, Melbourne.
From 1982 Montgarrett worked as a textile artist, artist in residence, lecturer and exhibition coordinator. She held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions throughout Australia, in Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom.
