About MeThe oral tradition of storytelling is well established in Morocco and in a country where illiteracy is high, story tellers can still be seen in market places there. Legend and folklore fascinated James McBey and he made this scene the subject of both this painting and also an etching, which he completed on his return to Britain later that year.

More About Me
The figure on the right of this painting looks as if he is very animatedly telling a tale to the gathered and seated crowd. What could he be speaking about?
