About MeThe East-Radcliffe respirator got its name from the name of the manufacturer "East" and Radcliffe Hospital, where it was designed. The respirator was the work horse at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital from the early 1960s to the late 1970s.

It was originally designed for adult use but adapted for babies. This was done by lowering the pressure supplied by passing oxygen through a balloon prior to giving to the child.
