About MeThe medal is enclosed in a transparent plastic capsule within a dark blue presentation case. It was issued to commemorate the vessels which plied between Shetland and Nazi-occupied Norway carrying refugees in one direction and arms, supplies and secret agents in the other. In 1943 new vessels for the `Shetland Bus' were provided by the United States and the missions continued until the end of the war in Europe in 1945.
