About MeTerrick Williams began his working life in his family's soap manufacturing business but in his twenties he became an artist and achieved considerable commercial success. Like the French Impressionists, Williams was very interested in capturing light and atmosphere. Although his pictures look spontaneous, as if painted out of doors, many were based on pastel or pencil sketches, methodically planned and painted in his studio. By the time Williams visited Brittany in the 1920s it had long been a favourite destination for artists. Williams has caught the very particular picturesque qualities of the harbour of Concarneau, capturing the sparkling light on a sunny day as boats return to harbour on a high tide.
More About Me
Brittany, the region where Concarneau is located, was a favourite destination for artists wishing to escape the traditional Academic style.
