About MeAt around the time this bowl and stand were made 'Vincennes', as Sèvres was then known, was moved by Madame Pompadour, mistress to Louis XV, to be closer to Versailles, the royal palace of the French Monarchy.

It is from this period that Sèvres really began to flourish, producing very high quality ceramic items in soft and eventually hard porcelain and so rivalling and then overtaking the German porcelain manufacturer, Meissen.
