About MeThere are three reserves around the edge of this plate which are each painted with a bird and a gilt floral border. The plate also features a large central reserve which is painted with a man playing pipes to a seated woman outdoors. The pink (rose) coloured ground was introduced in 1757 and was called 'rose Pompadour' after Madame Pompadour (1721-1764) who was an official mistress of Louis XV.
