About MeMorrocco was born in Aberdeen in 1917 of Italian parents. At Gray's School of Art (Aberdeen), he learnt meticulous draughtsmanship from his tutors James Cowie and Robert Sivell. The artist's first visit to Spain and Italy in the 1950s was to have a major effect upon his art.
He started to explore painting with powerful colour, which was to become such a dramatic feature of his later work. Morrocco brought into play the bold, warm colours and beach life of the Mediterranean and his style also became more schematic. He took beach boys, peasant women and melon sellers as his signature subjects.
