About MeA small square token inscribed on one side only with the initials of the minister, James Chalmers, the name of the church and the date of issue: M I C / DAV / IOT / 1749. The successor to the church which issued the token was founded in 1798 in Daviot village, four miles north of Inverurie and is still in use..

The original Daviot church was dedicated to St Colm. This obscure saint is commemorated at several places in north-east Scotland, such as St Combs, near Fraserburgh, and probably at the Island of Inchcolm in the Firth of Forth.

Daviot's religious associations date far back into pre-Christian antiquity for it is the site of one of north-east Scotland's best-preserved stone circles: a circle of eight standing stones and a huge recumbent one surround a central ring cairn.
