About MeThis striking porcelain figure portrays Neptune, the mythological god of the sea, as an old man with locks and long beard streaming in the wind, accompanied by a dolphin. In classical mythology Neptune was the god who ruled the sea and its inhabitants. Sailors prayed to him to ensure a safe voyage, though when roused to anger he would cause storms and shipwrecks.

More About Me
As the mythical "god of the sea", you don't want to upset Neptune if you are a sailor...and he looks angry here! A beautifully painted, high quality piece of Chelsea Derby porcelain.
