About MeGeorge Henry was born in Aberdeen in 1784. He was educated at Robert Gordon's Hospital (later Robert Gordon’s College). He first learned the trade of a weaver, which he abandoned to enter the firm of Hugh Gordon & Co., better known as "The Copper Company", of which he became senior partner. Another portrait of the sitter, by John Mitchell painted for the Weaver Incorporation in 1851, now hangs in the Incorporated Trades Hall. Henry never married and died in 1867.
