About MePeter Esslemont (1834-1894), was Lord Provost of Aberdeen 1880-1882. A Scottish Liberal politician, Esslemont was Liberal Member of Parliament for East Aberdeenshire from 1885 -1892.

Esslemont served as Provost and MP, and also founded the successful Aberdeen department store 'Esslemont & Macintosh', the building for which can still be seen on Union Street.
